Experience

As described above, I was a teaching fellow as a PhD student at the University of Pittsburgh. Moreover, I have been a private tutor to high school students for the past two years in the Cleveland suburbs. I would like to continue teaching and inspiring a sense of curiosity in students in a safe and compassionate space as I have done over the past 30 years. I have been a youth pastor in three churches in that time period. I then returned to graduate school to receive the second Master's degree and then began my PhD studies at Pitt. I would be happy to provide a list of the classes I have taken, but they are too numerous to mention in this space. It is Important for me to emphasize here that I do not discuss religious convictions or beliefs as a tutor. While at Pitt, a secular institution, I was happy to help the students explore the religious complexities generated in such a wonderfully rich and diverse American history. I enjoyed teaching about the beliefs of other major world religions as well. I have published three articles and would be happy to provide potential students and parents with my publications. They are: ˙ 2012, “Immigration and the Arts”, The Making of Modern Immigration, An Encyclopedia of People and Ideas, Patrick J. Hayes, Editor, ABC-CLIO, Santa Barbara, CA & Oxford, England. ˙2010, BOOK REVIEW, as published in The International Journal of Multicultural Education, Review of Teaching Adolescents Religious Literacy in a Post-9/11 World, by Robert J. Nash and Penny A. Bishop. ˙ 2010, “Presbyterians: Nineteenth Century”, Encyclopedia of Religion in America, Charles H. Libby and Peter W. Williams, eds., Congressional Quarterly Press, A Div. of SAGE Publications, Washington, D.C.
